Tony and Emily began attending the Fillmore Avenue Church of God in May of 1986. Since that time, they have served in a variety of positions and ministries within the church.
Almost 13 years later Tony felt the call on his life to attend the Ministerial Internship Program through the Church of God. Both he and Emily graduated from their studies in May of 1999. Just over a year later, Tony was appointed as the Interim Pastor of All Nations by our then State Overseer, Bishop W.A. Davis. Additionally, he received his credentials as an Exhorter in October 1999 and as an Ordained Bishop in 2005. Shortly thereafter Bishop Tony Addinall was unanimously elected as the Senior Pastor by our congregation. He and Co-Pastor Minister Emily Addinall have served in this capacity ever since.
Not only are we honored as a church to have them as the under shepherd's of this flock but they have since been honored by the leadership of the State of Virginia. Pastor Tony has served on the State Evangelism Board for the past two years and has been relected for another term. Additionally, Co-Pastor Emily has served on the State Women's Board from August 2002 until August 2006.
As a result of their joint leadership, our church has grown in membership and finances, but most of all spiritually. Many ministries have been designed within the church: 2NOW1 Couples Ministry, Paul's Platoon Leadership Training, Youth Mentoring Teen Discipleship, Tuesday to Tarry weekday intercessory prayer, Intercessory Prayer for congregational/leaders prayer, and Elective Sunday School classes) outreach opportunities have grown (door-to-door, bulk mailings, Health Evangelism Ministries, corporate nursing home visitation, Vacation Bible School, discipleship programs established (New Members), and our leaders sent forth in ministry (MIP: Reverends Robert & Andrea Lomboy, Reverends Leon & Lois Bright, Reverend Ashley & Min. Laverne Smith, Reverend Maynard & Min. Connie Crum, and Reverend Reggie & Min. Rachel Copeland) and College and Heather Kline Rowsey (Mission Virginia).
One of their greatest ministries not mentioned thus far has been their ministry of family and the importance of balancing priorities. Our Pastors have shared with us two vessels that they have spent a life-time of pouring into: Amanda and AJ. Their giftedness has blessed this congregation in more ways than one. They have shared their own talents to bless us but have also given us a glimpse into their worship of our God. Both of their children have unselfishly given of themselves for this body of believers. Amanda is a graduate of Lee University and is now our Praise & Worship Leader. AJ is also attending Lee University and is currently a Senior. He also is a member of the Campus Choir.
